The Four Levels of Membrane Filtration
Each level of membrane filtration provides finer separation based on molecular weight cut-off (MWCO):
Microfiltration (MF)
Removes suspended solids and bacteria
Ultrafiltration (UF)
Separates proteins, enzymes and colloids
Nanofiltration (NF)
Selectively removes salts and organics
Reverse Osmosis (RO)
Achieves complete demineralisation and purification

What Membranes Can Do
