Reverse Osmosis System for Generation of Low Conductivity Process Water
GESTAMP, a manufacturer of metal automotive components needed to replace an aging chemically activated ion exchange system that supplied treated water for their water-based paint processes.
As part of its Vision to promote sustainable economic and social development, Gestamp was primarily looking into cleaner, more cost-effective water treatment options.
The company contacted Axium’s technical team to discuss the most sustainable way forward and after due consideration they chose Reverse Osmosis technology. The decision was based on operator safety with the elimination of bulk chemical handling, and operational savings on contaminated waste disposal, while at the same time eliminating a toxic pollution hazard to the environment.
Gestamp selected one of Axium’s standard reverse osmosis systems as it met the criteria for equipment reliability, technical support, and service backup. The short delivery time quoted was a key deciding factor.
After a few months use, Gestamp were delighted to report some unexpected but significant benefits, including an enhanced paint finish resulting from improved water quality, as well as less downtime, because the system requires minimal maintenance and is programmed to self-clean.
